Silver Lining is the adoptable Pet of the Week at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. She’s a 3 to 4 year old, 16 pound, “Malti-poo” (a Maltese-Poodle mix).

Silver Lining was transferred from another shelter to RCHS through the FOCAS program, but when she arrived, she was a mess. Her coat was so thick and matted, that the only option was to shave her down to the skin. Like a dark cloud, under that tangles mess of fur was, you guessed it, a “Silver Lining!” Check the RCHS website for her “before-and-after” photos.

Now that she can feel her skin again, Silver Lining loves to be touched. She’ll do whatever you want to do and go wherever you want to go. All she needs is a family that she can love and be with.

Today’s Pet of the Week from PennySaver is all about Charlie and Gauge. Charlie loves to cuddle and give lots of kisses, and Gauge is always well-dressed and ready to “gauge” any situation.

Do you think you can resist this face? Hmmm… you can try! This is Charlie, one of the many cuties at the Burbank Animal Shelter. Little Charlie isn’t comfortable living with other animals, but loves to cuddle with humans on the couch. He will need to be house-broken, but otherwise is a happy, well-mannered guy. Once he connects with you, he’ll share lots of kisses! He’ll be good in an apartment, and will enjoy being around children that are 10 years old and up.

Gauge is the adoptable Pet of the Week at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. He’s a 1 year and 9 month old, 8 pound, domestic, short-haired cat.

Always well-dressed, Gauge wears a basic tuxedo, made from natural fur, basic black, with white collar and black tail. There’s also a black spot on the tip of his nose that looks like a well-trimmed mustache. He makes a great impression whether he’s walking toward you for some petting, or leaving for his next adventure. His name is Gauge, because he’s careful to “gauge” every situation. Once he’s comfortable, it’s “Full speed ahead! Time for you to pet the kitty!”

Since he was transferred to RCHS through the FOCAS program, Gauge has made lots of friends in the cattery, but he really needs a home of his own.

Today’s Pet of the Week from PennySaver is all about Maple and Shorty. Shorty loves to make you smile, and Maple is just as sweet as her name!

This hunky guy is bringing lots of smiles to all of the volunteers, so we’d like to introduce you to Shorty, the newest pet of the week at the Burbank Animal Shelter. Shorty’s a loveable clown, with a great sense of humor who love to make you happy. He’s good with kids, and gets along great with other dofs, so if you have a dog in need of a pal…well, Shorty may be the perfect choice! Shorty needs a lot of exercise and pott-training, and though it may be a bit of work, you will be well-rewarded for taking the time to help Shorty become a great family pet!

AS you might expect from a dog named Maple, she’s very sweet, but she’s also one smart cookie! Maple already knows, “Sit, Shake, and Down.” With a few training treats and lots of pawsitive reinforcement, she’ll be eager to learn anything else that you want to teach her.

Maple is an outgoing and active dog, who will need regular exercise, and can be a great walking or exercise partner, and also an entertaining playmate for children.

She was transferred to RCHS from another animal shelter through the FOCAS program.

Squince is mister mellow. You can describe Squince’s philosophy of life in one word, Whatever. Whatever you want is fine with him. Already have a cat? He’s okay with that. If you have a dog… that’s not a problem, he’s lived with dogs before. If you need some quite time to yourself, he’ll go take a nap. And when it’s time to cuddle a big, mellow cat, Squince is all for it!

Meet Churchill, the newest pet of the week at the Burbank Animal Shelter. This beautiful boy is a real love-bug, who purrs like nobody’s business, and is just so soft! He needs to be an indoor pet, and his new forever home should be dog-free. It’s also recommended that there be no children or elderly in the home, since sweet Churchill likes to play a little rough. He may get along with another cat, but would prefer to be an only kitty, surrounded by plenty of catnip mice that he can rough-house with.

Zeus is the adoptable Pet of the Week at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. He’s a 1 year old, 55 pound, neutered, male, Labrador Retriever-Shepherd mix.

Zeus is a big dog, but he’s not huge. while he’s fully grown, at just one year old, he’s still a puppy. He’s super smart and eager to learn whatever you want to teach him. Since he’s an active dog, Zeus is willing to try anything you want him to do. All he wants to do is make his family proud of him! He’s a little shy in the kennels, but he doesn’t know that it’s just temporary until he gets his real lifelong home and new loving family.

Zeus was surrendered to RCHS when his previous family moved into housing that didn’t allow pets.

Sweet Lulu is the newest pet of the week at the Burbank Animal Shelter. She’s a Border Collie mix, and is more of a ladies’ dog. Lulu’s quiet, shy and doesn’t like crowds, but does like other quiet dogs. She’s great with older children, and would be quite the love-bug in a calm household. Playtime and a nice walk each day would suit her just fine, then finish up the day with a snuggle on the couch!

Colby Jack is a big kitty with a purr-sonality to match his size. There’s absolutely nothing shy about this guy. He’s super friendly, and as far as he’s concerned, there are no strangers…only friends he hasn’t met yet. Even if he’s in the middle of a cat nap, when you walk into the Cattery at RCHS, he’ll get up to greet you, rub against you, and give you a look that asks, “Can I go home with you and be your new kitty?”

Joey is the adoptable Pet of the Week at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. He’s a 1 year-old, 30 pound, neutered, male Whippet/Shepherd mix.

At a weight of 30 pounds, Joey is a medium-sized dog. He’s very active, which probably comes from the Whippet side of his family, and also extremely smart, which could be his Shepherd influence. He knows several commands including, “Sit, Lie down, Shake, and Roll Over.” Whether it’s because of his age or his breeds, Joey seems to have non-stop energy and a big, happy smile. No matter what his new family is doing, he’ll want to be included, be it walks, runs, hikes or naps on the couch… Joey will be right by your side.

Joey’s previous family surrendered him to RCHS when they said they could no longer afford to have a dog.
