I go “yarding” with my girlfriends every Saturday morning and we use the PennySaver to obtain all the houses and addresses for our garage sales. We have met the nicest people along the way and have gotten some real “finds” over the years and there is a story that goes along with each and every one of our purchases. It is our “girl” time together and we thank the PennySaver for listing all the Garage Sales every week! -Farmingdale, NY

I have purchased many items through the Pennysaver including vehicles, furniture, sporting equipment, toys, maternity and kids clothes and lots of baby items. However, I’d have to say that my most memorable item obtained through the PennySaver would be my Golden Retriever dog, Tucker. I bought him through the Pennysaver as a puppy 13 years ago and still have him today. He is a wonderful family dog. My son adores him and calls him the “best dog ever.” They are best buddies and do everything together. We love him so much and wish he’d be able to stay with us forever! -Acton, CA

My favorite PennySaver memory was last year when there used to be “The Never-ending Contest” and I would enter to win each week with no success…until one day I checked my mailbox and discovered I had won four free tickets to the Sacramento Zoo! I LOVE going through the PennySaver, especially the Lost & Found ads. One week I noticed that someone had lost a Miniature Pinscher in Sylmar. I remembered seeing a “found” sign while out on a run for a dog fitting the description. I drove to where I had seen the sign and called the number, and they still had the dog. I told them about the ad for the lost dog, gave them the number and asked them to call me back if it was the same dog. I did in fact get a call back, but not from them,  but from the owner of the dog. It turned out to be the same dog, and the owner wanted to thank me for taking the time to get the “lost” and the “found” in touch with each other. Because of that experience, I ALWAYS pay attention to Lost & Found flyers and ads, because you just never know. -Sylmar, CA

When I moved to CA from NYC, I furnished my entire one bedroom from garage sales in 3 weekends. It was a ritual that I read through the Pennysaver every Wed. and mapped out 2-3 cities for my Sat. morning hunt. I would start out at 6:30am and even had to wait for owners to start the sale. It was so much fun and I found so many good deals, especially the moving sales. You have to hit them first. I also learned to haggle. My current complex holds annual garage sales and there are people waiting outside my garage before I open my garage door. It brings back memories of my earlier days! Back in the early 80′s my cousin was looking for a puppy. We looked through the Pennysaver and found an ad “puppies free to loving home”. We went and he found his puppy, but I too fell in love with the runt of the litter. She was a beautiful golden brown and was part Doberman Pinscher and part German Shepard. At this time, I had just moved into my first apartment and I was only 17 years old. I barely had enough money to do that with no job and all. The items were magnificent. Years ago, I was not doing great in the money department and had no auto insurance. A friend drove my car and crashed it. My first and best surfboard was purchased through PennySaver. I learned to surf on that board and it was the best. After surfing, I would fall asleep on the sand with one arm on my board so no one could take it. One day I had a flat tire, so I had to walk to work 5 miles. When I was half way there, I looked down on the ground and saw a PennySaver. I started looking through it and saw my exact tire size in an ad for$10!  I called the people, and it just so happens that it was someone who had a back yard shop and put the tire on for a total of $10 bucks. Penny Saver is a Life Saver. I fell in my bathtub and made a big hole in the floor of it. I was so upset , not because I fell, but because of the cost to repair the bathtub. Then a friend suggested to me “Why don’t you put an ad in the Penny Saver to get some extra cash” to fix the bathtub. Sure enough. Through the ad from the Penny Saver (or Life Saver, as I call it now),  I was able to get enough money for the repair and even had money left over to buy a rubber duckie. I love Wednesday, that’s when my PennySaver comes in the mail! The PennySaver has the best ads for yard sales. I get my pad of paper out and write them down. My favorite PennySaver memory is the great find I found at a yard sale. It was a box of jewelry that I bought for $ 10.00. Well, in the jewelry box was a 1 carat diamond ring!  A REAL ONE!  That was 5 years ago and I gave it to my daughter when she had my 1st granddaughter.
