PennySaver Memories

As many of you know, especially our California readers, PennySaver is a brand that has been a part of millions of lives for 48 years,  is in over 700 local editions, and is mailed to 95% of the residents in California. And because of this, there are a great deal of stories that we hear from our readers about how the PennySaver shaped their lives. We want to share a few of these every week with you here on our PennySaverUSA.com blog.

I had been a little sad for a while wanting to get a chihuahua, and my husband happened to see an ad for puppies in the PennySaver and surprised me with one! She is a really funny and sweet dog, thanks PennySaver! -San Ysidro, CA

Years ago, I was not doing great in the money department and had no auto insurance. A friend drove my car and crashed it. Having not much money to fix it, I looked in the PennySaver and found an ad for “guaranteed 50% off your lowest estimate for auto body work.” I followed up, and the advertiser did my work for well less than half, and did a beautiful job! -Calimesa, CA

My first and best surfboard was purchased through PennySaver. I learned to surf on that board and it was the best. After surfing, I would fall asleep on the sand with one arm on my board so no one could take it. It was eventually stolen out of my backyard though, but that board still brings back great memories and I know somewhere, someone is learning to surf on it today. -Huntington Beach, CA

One day I had a flat tire, so I had to walk to work 5 miles. When I was half way there, I looked down on the ground and saw a PennySaver. I started looking through it and saw my exact tire size in an ad for$10!  I called the people, and it just so happens that it was someone who had a back yard shop and put the tire on for a total of $10 bucks. It was a blessing and a great memory.  -Hemet, Beach

In the early 1970s,  I was in Nursing School with very little money. My friends and I and our children always waited for the Pennysaver for all of the restaurant coupons. We could always treat ourselves to an outing thanks to the PennySaver!                                                                       -Dana Point, CA

Recently there was a coupon for a local restaurant where I always wanted to go to. It was a nice treat and time that I had with the coupon just for myself (I never had a treat like that before…since I have 4 children) So, thanks to Pennysaver and the person who took care of them! -Anaheim, CA

Ever since I was a kid, my parents would always search the Pennysaver for things that we needed. So when I was in need of furniture when I moved out of my parents to go to college, I searched the Pennysaver too! And I found an ad for a mattress, and the people were very nice. From now on, I know where to look for anything I need. -Lancaster, CA

When I won tickets to Magic Mountain  and I used them for a family that has never been to an amusement park. The kids cried because they were so happy. – Hemet, CA

Thanksgiving Recipe Contest Cooking Challenge!

Here at PennySaverUSA, we are right in the middle of our Thanksgiving Recipe Contest, where people are submitting their recipes for a shot at winning $250. We have received some very traditional recipes, as well as some not so traditional side-dishes that caught our attention. Our Content and Community guy, Brett Houchin, decided that he needed to try to make one of the non-traditional side dishes to add to his Thanksgiving cooking repertoire.  He’s not a big fan of following recipes, so this was a quite a challenge for him!

What is your favorite Thanksgiving Recipe? Submit it to be entered to win $250! Also, come by our Facebook page to see some recipes being posted onto our Facebook Wall!
