Our Pets Contest was a hit! Due to the overwhelming response, we’ve decided to get some help in deciding the winner…so, this is how this is gonna roll:  We are narrowing the field down to 10 finalists today and letting all you PennySavers out there vote for your favorite via Text message on your mobile phone beginning on MONDAY!

We will be giving you 10 photo choices with a code at the bottom of each that you will send to us. Pretty cool, right? It is free to vote, but standard message rates may apply.

We want to thank EVERYONE who submitted photos, we received 1,104 entries! That’s a lot of cuteness!

The voting period begins October 4^th and ends October 10^th and the winning photo with the most votes will be rewarded with a $250 check. So, be sure to vote, starting Monday!

Actually, my favorite memory of the PennySaver is every day. Seeing how many people place ads and trust the paper. -Upland, CA

My favorite PennySaver memory was answering an ad about free kittens 18 yrs ago, when we found the newest addition to our family. We had our cat Timber for 18 years after that, had the ad for free kittens not been placed in the Pennysaver, we would of missed out on owning a cat who would bring home lost animals or hurt ones; he even brought home a hurt hummingbird one day. He carried it home and placed it on the porch and meowed until I saw it. We were able to nurse it back to health and let it go. His last rescue was a cat he brought home that the owner had lived 27 miles from us, she lost her husband and the cat all with in a week, and we were able to re-unite the cat & owner. He was a great cat. Thanks to the PennySaver for having a magazine that helps people to reach one another sent right to their household.  Long Beach, CA

My favorite PennySaver memory was when I sent a message to my husband for Father’s Day. It was a special day. I usually can’t really do anything for father’s day because i’m not working. when my husband seen the message he had teary eyes it was very special to me and him. My favorite PennySaver memory is when my 6yr. old son brought home his classroom hamster for Christmas break and his teacher only gave him 1 days worth of hamster bedding.  He was was devastated because he knew of our finances being low and stressed out to the point where he was looking in newspapers to find coupons from pet stores. So, finally, he checked our mail and came across the PennySaver and his prayers were answered. He came across your coupon section and found a coupon for 20% off at our local pet store!!!! My son was so happy and his words, as I recall were: “Thanks to the PennySaver, I won’t be getting any gray hairs now!!!!”. So that’s my favorite memory! -La Mesa, CA
