Pet of the Week: Velvet and Woodson

Today’s Pet of the Week from PennySaverUSA.com is about Velvet and Woodson, who are just waiting for a great family to adopt, and take them home!

Adopt Pet of the Week, Velvet
The pet of the week at Burbank Animal Shelter is Velvet! Once you meet this girl, you’ll know why her name is Velvet. So smooth and silky, she loves to be cuddled and petted. Velvet is a young, playful Pit Bull Terrir mix, and would fit into an active home…perhaps you need a hiking or running partner? She’s very sweet, loves to learn, and generally is just a doll. She will make a great addition to any family!

Why don’t you come over to the Burbank Animal Shelter and meet Velvet (ID #A047528), we think you’ll find yourself a lifetime friend!

Woodson was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society from another animal shelter through the FOCAS program. He likes people and he gets along great with the other residents of the RCHS cattery. Talk about versatile, Woodson even likes dogs. You should know that he gives little “love nips” when he’s overstimulated or excited.

Pet of the Week: Tuffie and Chowder

Today’s Pet of the Week from PennySaverUSA.com is about Tuffie and Chowder, who are just waiting for a great family to adopt, and take them home!

adopt pet of the week, tuffie
Here’s a cutie who needs a family! Tough guy? Not tough to love. Meet Tuffie, a 6 month old gray tabby who is just beginning the road to his wonderful life. He was transferred to the Burbank Animal Shelter‘s fabulous foster program for a while, which allows animals who need a little more attention to be brought up to be happy and adoptable! He’s such a social butterfly now, who tries to act tough, but pick him up and let the purring begin!

Tuffie’s a little timid at first, and is probably not a good candidate in a household with small children, but he would love to be your new best friend… so come on down to the shelter and meet Tuffie (ID A046253), and see how tough it will be to resist taking him home!

adopt pet of the week, chowder
Chowder is the adoptable Pet of the Week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. He’s a 3 year old, 70 pound German Shepherd / Chow chow mix. This is a really great dog who needs an active family that will include him in everything they do. While he may enjoy a nap in the living room, Chowder is far from a couch potato.

Chowder was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society from a pet rescue group in Texas through the FOCAS program. That may explain why his personality is as big as Texas! He loves people, other dogs, and of course his dog toys. Chowder is always ready for a game of tug of war, and before he goes to bed at night, he really enjoys a nice rawhide chew as a late-night snack.

Just one more thing you need to know…Yes, his left ear always flops down like that.

Meet Chowder at Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Find out how you can adopt Chowder or sponsor him until his family finds him and takes him home.

Bellaboo is the adoptable Pet of the Week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. She’s a 3 1/2 year old, 8 pound, short-haired Torbie cat. “Torbie” means that our sweet little Bellaboo is a mix between a Tortoise shell and a Tabby.

Bellaboo was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society from another animal shelter through the FOCAS program. She’s definitely “all that and a bag of catnip.” Sweet Bellaboo is a quiet kitty, unless you rub her tummy, that’s like turning on her “purr switch.” She also likes to rub up against things, your leg, the cabinets, other kitties, pretty much anything. You should also know that Bellaboo is a “top shelf” kitty who loves to sit or sleep up high on the top shelf, so she has a nice view of everything going on around her.

Pet of the Week: Mocha and Sally

Today’s Pet of the Week from PennySaverUSA.com is about Mocha and Sally, who are just waiting for a great family to adopt, and take them home!

Adopt our pet of the week, Mocha!
This week’s adoptable pet of the week at the Burbank Animal Shelter is Mocha. Mocha is a terrific cat with a big attitude. she has her own ideas about what’s right and wrong, and she will let you know if you’re wrong! She is very independent but does have a soft spot once she gets to know you, and will love all the attention you can give her. Mocha will likely be the dominant pet in your household, but does get along with dogs and other cats. However, young children are probably not the best match for her.

Have a mocha latte, then drop the Burbank Animal Shelter and meet Mocha (ID #A042692)..

PennySaver Memories

As many of you know, especially our California readers, PennySaver is a brand that has been a part of millions of lives for 48 years,  is in over 700 local editions, and is mailed to 95% of the residents in California. And because of this, there are a great deal of stories that we hear from our readers about how the PennySaver shaped their lives. We want to share a few of these every week with you here on our PennySaverUSA.com blog.

Actually, my favorite memory of the PennySaver is every day. Seeing how many people place ads and trust the paper. -Upland, CA

My favorite PennySaver memory was answering an ad about free kittens 18 yrs ago, when we found the newest addition to our family. We had our cat Timber for 18 years after that, had the ad for free kittens not been placed in the Pennysaver, we would of missed out on owning a cat who would bring home lost animals or hurt ones; he even brought home a hurt hummingbird one day. He carried it home and placed it on the porch and meowed until I saw it. We were able to nurse it back to health and let it go. His last rescue was a cat he brought home that the owner had lived 27 miles from us, she lost her husband and the cat all with in a week, and we were able to re-unite the cat & owner. He was a great cat. Thanks to the PennySaver for having a magazine that helps people to reach one another sent right to their household.  Long Beach, CA

My favorite PennySaver memory was when I sent a message to my husband for Father’s Day. It was a special day. I usually can’t really do anything for father’s day because i’m not working. when my husband seen the message he had teary eyes it was very special to me and him. Thanks to the people that made this possible I really appreciated. -Redlands, CA

My favorite PennySaver memory is when my 6yr. old son brought home his classroom hamster for Christmas break and his teacher only gave him 1 days worth of hamster bedding.  He was was devastated because he knew of our finances being low and stressed out to the point where he was looking in newspapers to find coupons from pet stores. So, finally, he checked our mail and came across the PennySaver and his prayers were answered. He came across your coupon section and found a coupon for 20% off at our local pet store!!!! My son was so happy and his words, as I recall were: “Thanks to the PennySaver, I won’t be getting any gray hairs now!!!!”. So that’s my favorite memory! -La Mesa, CA
