She is very well-behaved on walks with other dogs because she takes part in the Shelter’s Happy Tails Training and Happy Tails Hiking programs. Although she gets along with other dogs, she does need her space and would be happiest being the only dog in the family.

Darby is the pet of the week at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society
Darby is the adoptable Pet of the Week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. She’s a 6-year old, 13 pound, spayed, female, Balinese cat with brown and white fur, and blue-gray eyes.

Darby’s family gave her up when they had a new baby and they decided they didn’t have time for their cat, and asked the Rancho Coastal Humane Society to find her a new, loving home.

Balinese cats are descendants of Siamese cats, but they have longer fur and longer bodies and heads, legs, and tails. Balinese cats are the most intelligent of their long-haired breeds, and she’s definitely a smarty-pants! Darby wants to be the only cat in her new home. but she’s okay with a mellow dog.

Pretzel is the pet of the week at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society
Pretzel loves laps, and is the Pet of the Week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas. He’s a 1-1/2 year old, 13 pound, Terrier mix with bright eyes, and ears that stand straight up!

Pretzel was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society from another animal shelter through the FOCAS program. He’s a little bit shy at first before he shows his happy, playful side. Little Pretzel has never met a lap that he didn’t want to sit on. It might take him a few minutes since he’s a little bit timid in new situations, but once he gets over that, this dog is ready to relax and take life easy. You should also know that Pretzel loves other dogs. Take a minute to watch his video on the RCHS website. You’ll see Pretzel running and playing with some of his buddies.

Tosca needs a new home and a new family that will pet her, and rub her, and make her feel welcome. Don’t let her calm appearance fool you, she’s got a secret side that’s very frisky! On the outside, Tosca seems independent and mellow, but when you’re not expecting it, she’ll stand up and do “kitty zoom” around the house! After her fast and frisk exercise, Tosca returns to her usual, calm self, ready to sit on your lap and purr while you pet or brush her.

Nobody wants to wake up behind bars on New Year’s Day. That includes Koa, one of the Pets of the Week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society. He’s a 1 1/2 year old, 88 pound, neutered, male, German Shepherd mix.

Koa was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through the FOCAS program. He’s a happy, enthusiastic dog that will love you for the rest of his life. He can make himself at home almost anywhere. Koa is a big dog that loves going for walks and experiencing new adventures. He gets along great with kids of all ages, but his exuberance might be a bit too much for smaller children. He’s much better suited for bigger kids and adults.

Give Chinook kitty a loving home for Christmas

Chinook was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through the FOCAS program. She likes everyone she meets, whether they’re people or other cats. She adjusted to the Cattery right away, but what she really needs is a loving home. As a one year-old car, she’s reached a certain level of maturity…But sometimes she just can’t help herself and she zooms around the room like a kitten. AS you can tell from her picture, Chinook is a stunningly beautiful young cat.

Hans was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society from another animal shelter through the FOCAS program. He can fit into almost any home, and likes other cats. He’s laid back, but still very social and affectionate. Hans loves sitting on laps and having people pet him, and especially loves being near people so he can “talk” to them. Just the same, he’s also just as happy to sit by a window and watch the birds outside, right up until his eyes are too heavy to keep open, and he drifts off into a cat nap.

Hans is definitely an “all things to all people” kind of cat, who will be a great addition to any home!
